U.S. Federal, State, and Local Laws / Regulations and Product Restrictions Policy

Overview

On Point Optics offers several items that are restricted for sale in the United States of America by federal, state, and/or local laws and regulations. The sale of these restricted items may be limited to authorized users, including but not limited to:

  • United States Military Personnel

  • Law Enforcement Officers

  • Correctional Facility Personnel

  • Security Guards

  • Peace Officers

  • Other Federally or State-Authorized Users

On Point Optics makes every effort to remain current on all applicable laws and regulations. However, U.S. federal, state, and local laws are complex and subject to change. Any summaries provided by On Point Optics are for general informational purposes only and do not constitute legal advice. If you have any questions about the legality of an item in your jurisdiction, consult an attorney who can represent your interests.

It is the Customer’s responsibility to investigate and ensure that any item is legal to use, carry, possess, purchase, and/or own within the Customer’s intended federal, state, and/or local area.

 


 

Restricted Items

Certain items are regulated by United States federal, state, and/or local laws and regulations, including but not limited to:

  • Ammunition

  • Body Armor

  • Helmets & Shields

  • Entry Tools

  • Lasers

  • Batons

  • Insignia

  • Restraints & Handcuffs

  • Gun Accessories & Parts

  • Knives (including Automatic Knives)

  • Pepper Spray

  • Stun Guns & Electric Weapons

The purchase of restricted items may require additional documentation, such as:

  • A purchase order on official department or institution letterhead

  • Government-issued identification

  • Additional compliance certification forms

On Point Optics reserves the right to require any necessary documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Requiring end-user and end-use information

  • Compliance certification forms from customers

 


 

Magazine and Extension Capacity Policy

To comply with state and local laws, On Point Optics adheres to specific restrictions regarding the sale and distribution of firearm magazines and extensions. The maximum allowed capacities are listed below by location. Sales exceeding these capacities are restricted in those locations. If a state allows exemptions for qualified individuals, documentation is required.

Handgun/Pistol Magazine + Extensions Maximum Allowed Capacity:

  • All Capacities Restricted: Connecticut (CT)

  • 10 Rounds: California (CA), District of Columbia (DC), Hawaii (HI), Massachusetts (MA), Maryland (MD), New Jersey (NJ), New York (NY), Rhode Island (RI), Washington (WA)

  • 15 Rounds: Colorado (CO), Illinois (IL), Vermont (VT)

  • 17 Rounds: Delaware (DE)

  • 30 Rounds: Columbus, Ohio (OH)

Rifle Magazine + Extensions Maximum Allowed Capacity:

  • All Capacities Restricted: Connecticut (CT)

  • 10 Rounds: California (CA), District of Columbia (DC), Hawaii (HI), Illinois (IL), Massachusetts (MA), Maryland (MD), New Jersey (NJ), New York (NY), Rhode Island (RI), Vermont (VT), Washington (WA)

  • 15 Rounds: Colorado (CO)

  • 17 Rounds: Delaware (DE)

  • 30 Rounds: Columbus, Ohio (OH)

Shotgun Magazine + Extensions Maximum Allowed Capacity:

  • All Capacities Restricted: Connecticut (CT)

  • 5 Rounds: Boulder (CO), Massachusetts (MA), New York (NY)

  • 6 Rounds: New Jersey (NJ)

  • 8 Rounds: Colorado (CO) (all cities)

  • 10 Rounds: California (CA), District of Columbia (DC), Hawaii (HI), Illinois (IL), Maryland (MD), Vermont (VT)

 


 

Customer Certification & Legal Compliance

By proceeding with a transaction to purchase any restricted item, the Customer certifies that:

  1. Compliance with Laws:

    • The Customer has reviewed all U.S. federal, state, and/or local laws and regulations related to the use, possession, purchase, and ownership of the restricted item(s).

  2. Legal Eligibility:

    • The Customer is legally permitted to use, possess, purchase, and own the restricted item(s).

  3. No Straw Purchases:

    • The Customer is not purchasing on behalf of another person (acting as a "Straw Purchaser") for anyone prohibited by federal, state, or local law.

  4. Lawful Use & No Criminal Associations:

    • The item(s) will be used solely for lawful purposes.

    • The Customer is not associated with any criminal group or enterprise.

  5. Age Requirements:

    • The Customer is at least 18 years old, or of the appropriate legal age for the item according to applicable federal, state, and/or local laws.

  6. No Legal Disabilities:

    • The Customer is not under any legal disability that would prohibit them from using, possessing, purchasing, owning, and/or transferring the item(s).

  7. Export Compliance:

    • The Customer has read and understands the On Point Optics Export Policy and agrees to comply with all applicable export restrictions.

  8. Return Policy for Regulated Products:

    • The Customer understands and agrees to restrictions on the return of certain regulated products.
